It’s like a mini-adventure every time, and I can’t help but love it! If you’re curious about which neighborhoods are worth your time and what hidden gems I found during my visits, you’re in for a treat!

What is the Crossiron Mills known for?

CrossIron Mills is Alberta’s largest single-level shopping center, with roughly 1.18 million square feet to explore. Its “race track” layout helps you see all the storefronts without feeling lost.

It’s right by the QEII Highway, making it easy for people driving between Calgary and Airdrie to visit without hassle. The mall has over 200 stores.

In 2016, they added a new food court that can seat 1,400 people with 24 dining options! CrossIron Mills is also an accredited Visitor Information Centre, so if you’re a tourist or even a local looking for recommendations, they provide all that handy info.

You can swing by Guest Services to pick up a free VIP Visitor Card, and then you’ll be on your way to scoring discounts at all sorts of stores and restaurants.

You can snag a signature gift when you spend at least $400 at any of the retailers in one day. All you have to do is swing by Guest Services with your receipts, and they’ll hook you up with something special. 

Score a gift card by riding a taxi.

How to Get to Crossiron Mills

1. EBus

To get from Calgary North to CrossIron Mills, you can hop on the EBus. The ride’s only about 20 minutes, so you can get there quickly without any hassle. The fare ranges from around $13 to $24, so it’s not too hard on the wallet.

Catch the bus at the Calgary North station, and you’ll be dropped right at CrossIron Mills. It’s an easy way to get out and enjoy shopping without any parking stress. 

2. Taxi

You can also consider grabbing a taxi. It’s just about a 19-minute ride from downtown Calgary, and it’ll set you back around $30 to $40. Call any local taxi service, like Mayfair Taxi or Checker Yellow Cabs.

With over 200 stores to explore, we were like kids in a candy store. Think about it: American Eagle, Coach, Calvin Klein—so many options, it was almost overwhelming in the best way possible!

The layout of the Fashion Neighbourhood was sleek and made it easy to navigate. We hopped from one trendy boutique to the next, almost like we were on a treasure hunt. 

The corridors were so spacious that they felt comfortable even when it got busy. I loved how the mall wasn’t just practical; it also had cool artistic touches that reflected its rich heritage, making it visually appealing.

The moment we wandered into the Ranch Neighbourhood, we felt transported straight into an Old West movie. Imagine this charming vibe with rustic storefronts that draw you in, almost like a set from a classic Western film.

One of my favorite parts had to be the Campfire Court. Picture this: we settled onto some rustic log furniture surrounded by tall trees and glowing glass-blown fire embers. 

The ceiling even mimicked a night sky—it was so cozy! We could just sit back and take a breather before diving back into our shopping adventures.

The Fossil Neighbourhood at CrossIron Mills felt like stepping into a fun time machine—a joyful trip back to Alberta’s prehistoric past. This place is about the kids, and I think it nailed it. 

Picture this: vibrant dinosaur-themed climbers everywhere and a volcano rock wall begging the little ones to conquer it. You could hear the giggles and squeals as they darted up the climbing structures and zipped down the slides.

The flooring even mimics natural cork linoleum that looks like the earth’s layers—it’s like we were digging for fossils ourselves! We also came across quirky sculptures, like the “Layers of Time” statue and the “CrossIron Caveman.” 

4. Explore the sports shops and gear at the Sport Neighbourhood.

The moment we walked into the Sports Neighbourhood, we were hit with this amazing energy. We were surrounded by many stores that every sports enthusiast would love. They had everything from high-end athletic wear to all sorts of specialized equipment. 

One of the coolest spots we checked out was Pro Hockey Life. We just marveled at the huge selection of hockey gear they had! We spent forever trying on skates, testing out sticks, and just chatting with the staff. 

The Sports Neighbourhood’s layout was also very convenient. It was easy to hop from store to store without feeling overwhelmed.

So, let me tell you about this awesome spot I recently visited called the Entertainment Neighborhood at CrossIron Mills. We kicked things off at SilverCity Cineplex, which has become one of my favorite go-to places. 

Whether you’re in the mood for the latest blockbuster or a classic flick, they’ve got you covered. And, of course, we couldn’t resist the popcorn – it’s practically a must!

We couldn’t leave without indulging in some good food! The Food Court at CrossIron Mills is huge and offers many delicious options. We had a mini food adventure, trying different cuisines that made our taste buds sing.

Let’s talk about dining at Tonic Kitchen + Bar. We had some amazing meals there! The food was spot on, whether we were looking for a hearty breakfast to kickstart our day or a chill dinner after all that shopping.

Some rooms even have private balconies, which is such a nice touch! But let me tell you about one of the coolest features—the rooftop sky deck. Just picture it: two hot tubs with the stars twinkling overhead. 

And don’t even get me started on the fitness center! They had all the latest machines, including a Peloton bike. Even while traveling, I was super motivated to keep up with my workout routine. It’s nice to know you can stay on track, right?

The Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Airport North’s location is a total win. It is just a quick drive to CrossIron Mills, so it was super easy to go there whenever we felt like shopping. 

As soon as we walked in, the vibe was welcoming. The staff was genuinely friendly, and they wanted us to feel at ease. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed: free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV.

One of the highlights was the indoor pool and hot tub. The hot tub was open late so we could soak in it after dinner. The hotel even has a shuttle service to and from the airport. It just made everything so much simpler for us.

Boston Pizza has a vibrant atmosphere that just screams casual dining. The decor is lively, with colorful walls covered in sports memorabilia and big screens showing all the latest games. It’s perfect for families and die-hard sports fans.

What I loved most was how they designed the space. One side felt cozy and family-oriented, while the other buzzed like a sports bar. You could pick a vibe that matched your mood, making the dining experience enjoyable.

They offer way more than pizza. They also offer hearty pasta, juicy burgers, and even salads for anyone looking for a lighter option. We chose the Salted Caramel Panookie topped with ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert. 

2. Fionn MacCool’s Irish Pub

Fionn MacCool’s Irish Pub felt like stepping into a cozy slice of Ireland in the middle of our neighborhood. It has charming rustic decor, wood accents, booths, and Irish memorabilia; let’s discuss the menu. It’s packed with a fantastic mix of traditional Irish dishes and modern pub classics. I couldn’t resist trying the fish and chips since it came highly recommended. We also went for the shepherd’s pie, which was hearty and comforting.

And oh, the drinks! The pub has an extensive drink menu and 36 beers on tap, including classic Irish brews like Guinness. We paired our meal with a pint, which felt right, while we enjoyed some live music that often fills the weekend pub.

Milestones felt contemporary and stylish, perfect whether we were grabbing a casual bite or celebrating something special. I loved the open layout, letting in a ton of natural light. 

It made everything feel relaxed, and we could choose between cozy booths or communal tables, depending on our mood—super comfy, no matter if it was just the two of us or a bigger group of friends.

The menu is a delicious mash-up of global flavors and classic American dishes. There’s seriously something for everyone there. We couldn’t resist trying the Miso-Glazed Chicken. They even have gluten-free and vegan options.

4. Jimmy the Greek

Jimmy the Greek has a casual charm. Its bright colors and Greek-inspired artwork pull you in. The atmosphere is fun and lighthearted, perfect after a long shopping day.

Their menu includes traditional Greek dishes made fresh every day. I was excited to try their Chicken Souvlaki Meal because I had heard so many good things about it. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! 

I loved Jimmy the Greek’s focus on serving healthy yet delicious food. I noticed many diners enjoying their meals right after a workout, which made me feel better about indulging, too!

Chachi’s in CrossIron Mills felt like we were stepping into a little slice of Mexico in the mall. The walls are lined with bright murals celebrating Mexican culture, making the experience feel lively and coming.

We were in the mood for some good food, and Chachi’s menu did not disappoint. One dish that blew us away was the Asada taco plate. I was also impressed with the portion sizes—they were big enough to fill you up.

They also have quick service options like drive-thru and delivery for those days when you just need something tasty on the go. Whether you’re in for a sit-down meal or pick something up, Chachi’s hits the spot for some hearty Mexican flavors.

The sleek storefronts and elegant displays ret the mood for a special shopping experience. I loved how easy it was to hop from one luxury brand to another. 

Here’s the best part: We stumbled upon some amazing deals on designer items! I mean, who doesn’t love a good sale? The Luxury Fashion Brands section offered promotions that made high-end fashion more accessible.

You won’t believe how amazing our trip to the shoe stores at CrossIron Mills was! We felt like we had stumbled into a shoe lover’s dream, with all these popular outlets, such as Famous Footwear, SoftMoc, and Foot Locker, right there. 

Each store had its cool vibe. For example, Foot Locker was trendy and athletic, and we discovered the latest sneaker drops that made us feel like we were in the know. Then there was SoftMoc, with its cozy ambiance, perfect for casual and dress shoes.

The layout of the mall made a huge difference. It was spacious enough to browse without feeling like we were on a crowded train during rush hour, even though it was a busy weekend.

We strolled into the jewelry stores at CrossIron Mills. The lighting was cozy and warm, making the rings, necklaces, and bracelets pop. Each store had its own vibe, too—some were modern and chic, while others felt classic and elegant. 

One standout moment was discovering Michael Hill. What I loved most was how each shop felt so personal. The staff was knowledgeable and took their time helping us find the perfect piece. 

Many of the stores offered custom design services, which is so cool! It was a neat opportunity to create something uniquely ours, reflecting our style and story.

Pro Hockey Life at CrossIron Mills is a hockey megastore; you can feel the energy around us. The place is massive, and fellow hockey fans are buzzing with enthusiasm, not to mention that smell of fresh gear.

The store layout is fantastic—it’s clean and open, making it easy to wander down the aisles without feeling lost. The latest sticks, shiny skates, protective gear, and fan apparel were there. 

One of the coolest parts was the Shooting Zone. It was a blast to try out sticks before buying them. And check this out—they offer custom-fitting skates and protective gear services! 

5. Bass Pro Shop

So, my recent trip to Bass Pro Shops at CrossIron Mills was a cool blend of a retail wonderland and a nature lover’s dream. The place is decked out with rustic decor and wooden beams; even this amazing aquarium is filled with local fish.

Lifelike taxidermy displays and vibrant wildlife murals dotted the shopping center, adding a sense of adventure. The center also offers some cool services, like an archery range and fishing ponds where kids can try to catch fish. 

And here’s the cherry on top of the whole experience: there’s a fudge shop inside! After wandering through all the gear, how could we resist? We treated ourselves to some homemade fudge, and let me tell you, it was the perfect sweet ending to our adventure.
